The Benson Earth Sciences Building at the University of Colorado at Boulder opened in 1999.
The 87,000 square-foot building houses the Geological Sciences department and the Jerry Crail Johnson Earth Sciences and Map Library. It has five levels, including the basement. The building features a three-story stone atrium with a glass roof and contains an 11,000 square-foot library, departmental offices, a 175-seat centrally scheduled classroom, a large lecture hall, faculty offices and laboratories. The facility was built on time, within budget and meeting every expectation of the university.
